This parasite seem to know well where to suck the blood in a hidden place - the eardrum! The outer layer of the eardrum inadvertently torn despite gentle removal technique as the tick proboschis was deeply buried and anchored into this layer. No true perforation occured. The trumatized area healed within a week and the hearing remained normal. This removal was performed endoscopically under general anaesthesia although the parasite was already dead - imagine the possible pain felt and traumatic experience if done under awake condition! |
