In this video, left antral washout was performed under general anaesthesia to clear the pus and infective material in the maxillary sinus. The medial wall of the maxillary sinus was deliberatey puctured by using Coakley antrum trocar (yellow arrow) and then then irrigated with sterile normal saline until the fluid exited from the normal sinus ostium became clear. The puncture site closes spontaneously and the overlying mucosa completely re-epithealized by 1 week after the procedure performed (white arrow). Similar procedure was done on the right side as well (not shown). |
