This video shows copious tenacious mucous mixed with pus draining into the nasopharynx. It originated from infected paranasal sinuses in a patient who has sinusitis for more than a month and the same time having middle ear effusion. Thick mucopus (mp) also seen tracking into the Eustachian tube (arrow) which explained the conductive hearing loss in Eustachian tube dysfunction secondary to this ongoing infective process. The postnasal lymphoid tissue appeared hyperplastic. Functional endoscopic sinus surgery was then performed in the same setting. Antibiotic, mucolytic, nasal decongestant, and nasal rinse were prescribed. |
