Acute distress in a 3 year old child causing severe gagging and bouts of vomiting due to 20 cent coin impaction in the hypopharynx. Risks of acute airway obstruction, aspiration of vomited material and laryngospasm are serious needing an immediate removal under general anaesthesia (high-risk consented procedure). Post-procedure was uneventful.
