Note the differences between the left and right sides. At the left side, we could preserve the middle turbinate, so it is more aerodynamic and the patient has a better outcome, since air and nasal lavage can reach the area of the frontal recess and sinus. At the right side, the middle turbinate was partially resected so the airflow is not stable and cannot reach properly the upper areas. Balloon sinuplasty can be useful on those cases to perform post-operative in-office dilatation of the frontal sinus drainage pathway at the right side, which is very narrow, but still open. |
