This video show nose endoscopy of young boy with Huge Antrochoanal Polyp in right nasal cavity , Adenoid Hypertrophy & Sinusitis . In this case , Polyp is obstructing the opposite choana also .
Child presented with complain nose blockage , frequent cold , cough , ear fullness , snoring & mouth breathing since last 3 months .
Antrochoanal Polyp
It arises from the mucosa of maxillary sinus antrum , comes out of it and grows in the choana and nasal cavity. Hence , it has three parts.
(1) Antral: which is a thin stalk.
(2) Choanal: which is round and globular.
(3) Nasal: which is flat from side to side.
It is mostly seen in children and young adults. Usually single and unilateral. Exact cause is not known but related to nasal allergy & sinusitis .
Treatment :
Removal by Endoscopic sinus surgery .
Caldwell-Luc operation in recurrent cases . |
