15 yo boy was diagnosed with large recurrent cholesteatoma on the left. Patient had had bilateral cholesteatoma and bilateral canal-wall up tympanomastoidectomies 5 years earlier. No recurrence was found on the right. In case of cholesteatoma, thorough follow up after canal-wall up mastoidectomy is always mandatoy in order to detect early recurrence. In this case, diagnosis of recurrence was late and required canal-wall down mastoidectomy as a choice for treatment. |
