Renal duplication anomalies with obstruction/reflux are complex & the treatment has to be tailored according to the anatomy. A 5-month old baby boy had left-sided duplication with lower moiety PUJ obstruction. cystoscopy & retrograde pyelogram confirmed lower moiety PUJO but both ureters joined in lower third & entered as single ureter into the bladder. Laparoscopic pyeloplasty was done thru transmesocolic approach. Both the ureters were encased in a common sheath even in the upper part. They were carefully separated until sufficient length of lower moiety ureter was obtained for pelviureteric anastomosis. The operation took about 1 hour. Enjoy the video of the surgery. |
