This is an example of a dermal tab that I create on the allograft in order to speed integration of the graft into the skin flap of an immediate breast reconstruction.
Incorporation of the graft into the host tissue is essential to reduce seroma and improve outcomes. This method has been shown to work in other surgeries and the concept of dermal tabs makes the technique safer for the patient.
