An 82 year old lady with type 2 diabetes, hypertension and previous breast cancer presented with iron deficiency anaemia (Hb 8.7 g/dl, Ferritin 14). She was on long term PPI. Two previous OGDs showed a polyp in the oesophagus and numerous polyps in the stomach. A colonoscopy showed diverticular disease. The patient was referred by the upper GI surgeons for oesophageal polypectomy… (see video).
The oesophageal polyp was a squamous cell papilloma. The gastric polyps were fundic gland polyps secondary to proton pump inhibitor use. |
