40yo M with slow transit constipation (Inertia). He had a previous open appy for perforation as a teenager. He has also recently had a low anterior resection by another surgeon "as a less invasive way to fix his constipation". This did not work. We performed a completion colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis. We extracted the specimen through his old Rocky-Davis incision so that we could revise the scar at the same time. He went home on POD #4 after good return of bowel function. |
