Appendectomy, when done laparoscopically is associated with slightly higher rate of postoperative intra-abdominal abscess formation. This may be especially true in perforated appendicitis. Therefore it is the surgeon's task to secure thorough cleansing when doing an appendectomy laparoscopically especially in patients having perforation & peritonitis. The presented case is a good example.
