10. Conclusions
The development of endoscopic techniques has modified operative indications in gynecology, with a trend towards the development of conservative treatment options. In cases of abnormal uterine bleeding, medical therapy is often ineffective. Endometrial hysteroscopic resection is a rapid procedure with few intraoperative complications, provided the rules of safety are respected. The technique can be proposed for all patients who are approaching menopause and who present with a menometrorrhagia that is resistant to medical therapy. The functional results of endometrial ablation compare favorably to those of curettage. The psychological advantages of this method compared to hysterectomy are indisputable. Future developments should aim at reducing complications related to the procedure and improving its efficacy. |
