Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is still not the gold standard for repair although mesh implantation is unequivocally accepted as an integral part of any groin hernia repair. Anyway the laparoscopic repair of inguinal hernia is a surgical practice to be considered safe: the benefits of laparoscopy are confirmed in the speedy recovery of the patient and the short average length of stay; also the times operators have not proven particularly long.
