Laparoscopic Hartmann sigmoid colon resection in a 39 years old female patient with severe acute diverticulitis with proximal large bowel obstruction and caecum distension up to 10.5 cm. The sigmoid colon is severely inflamed and thickened, attracted to the retroperitoneum and urinary bladder and thickening of the bladder wall is present.
Note the patient had a previous midline dual-mesh placed laparoscopically for umbilical hernia repair and the laparoscopic colectomy is carried out by a lateral approach from the right flank.
