Firefly to assess perfusion of the bowel prior to anastamosis as well as the robotic stapler (I think is safer) are advantages to performing this surgery. The technique for performing the anastamosis shows a modification of the traditional open technique where a TA stapler is used and the staple lines that do not have apposition of serosa to serosa are oversewn. Here the common enterotomy is not stapled but closed with the same suture that reinforces the staple lines that have mucosal apposition. A crotch stitch was not placed.
