The team of cardiac surgeons at Continental Hospitals performed a very rare awake open-heart surgery for the first time in Hyderabad and the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The surgery was performed on Mr. Jamir Hussain, a 27-year-old driver, hailing from Hyderabad, who had been suffering from severe breathlessness, chronic cough, and fever; and was not able to walk for short distances. After being turned down by several hospitals, owing to his complicated health condition, socio-economic status and risks involved in the heart surgery, he knocked on the doors of Continental Hospitals, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, and found a new ray of hope in his life.
