This 74 y/o patient underwent a right hemicolectomy in december 2103 after he presented his first episode on lower intestinal bleeding. The technique that we employed followed the same steps as in a multiport lap right colectomy. Patient had a 28 BMI. Operative time was 180 minutes and POP course was without trouble, being discharged from the hospital 36 hrs after surgery. Up to date he remains disease free after continuing treatment in an Oncologic Institute in Mexico (INCAN). Right colon is very suitable for lap surgery and for single-port procedures. Apart from any cosmetic intention, which is not the case when you treat cancer cases like this, a POP evolution with a minimum of analgesic ingestion and a rapid return home are great benefits of this kind of minimally invasive surgery. Certainly this kind of procedures could not be performed by minilaparoscopy. This video demonstrates the great versatility and applications of single-port laparoscopic surgery.
