This video demonstrates our technique of laparoscopic very low anterior resection with handsewn coloanal anastomosis for rectal cancer in men. This technique offers anal sphincter preservation in many patients with low rectal cancer for whom closure of perineum and permanent colostomy used to be considered the only surgical treatment option in the past.
