This is a combined procedure for cataract and glaucoma . We have performed standard 2.2 phaco and modified Express implantation with deep sclerectomy and Star material .Due to the unike design of the Star material ( Starflo device is made of it ) it acts simultaneously as a spacer ,antiscaring and drainage device. We implant the Express
on his regular place ,then we create deep scleral “lake” just posterior to the Express plate .We create communication with the suprachoroidal space in the posterior part of the “lake”.We place the “Star stripe” in the “lake” and in the suprachoroidal space . By that we access all the available drainage paths in the eye and also we are sure that there can be no failure of our procedure in long term ,because of the permanent presence of the “Star stripe” under the scleral flap ( no scarring is possible ) . Due to deep sclerectomy and the “Star stripe” closing of the flap can be complete water tight and no bleb is present after closing the conjunctiva. We have observed well maintained intraocular pressure in one year post operative period. We can conclude that this approach is a safe and predictable option for surgical treatment of advanced Glaucoma.
No MMC and 5FU was used !
