Single Port Laparoscopy for Ischaemic Small Bowel secondary to Acute Arterial Embolus
This video demonstrates a single port laparoscopy in a elderly patient presenting with an acute abdomen secondary to a gangrenous loop of ileum. The patient had had a recent myocardial infarct with an arterial embolus thereafter causing the ischaemia. The single port access (using a 'Glove Port' facilitated a 'sealed minilaparotomy' in order to make the diagnosis and also the resection by means of extracorporeal excision and subsequent stoma formation. Authors: Mr Hazar Al-Nadji, Mr Ronan Cahill, Prof ADK Hill, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. Video associated with Colorectal Disease Journal (published by Wiley and associated with the ACPGBI and ESCP).
