Sphenoidal Meningocele

A 48yrs female patient came to me with intermittent Bilateral nasal watery discharge for the last 2 years along with Right nasal blockage of the same duration. Nasal fluid analysis confirmed it was CSF. CT Cisternography revealed Right Spenoid Lateral wall bony defect (6mm) with a smooth walled soft tissue mass (6x4cm) extending within the Right nasal cavity from sphenoid sinus and incomplete intersphenoid septum. MRI confirmed the mass to be a Meningocele. Did Nasal Endoscopic Removal of the Meningocele with Xomed Medtronic Microdebrider along with repair of Sphenoid sinus CSF leak (Surgicel-Fat-Fascia Lata-Tissel). Incidentally the Right Cavernous sinus was forming the lateral wall of the defect which started oozing during the surgery and adequate haemostasis was achieved with Surgicel.
